About My Challenge
Below are just a few challenges facing people in Canada
- Access & Wait Times: Only 50% of people referred to community mental health counselling in 2024–2025 received care within 30 days.
- Unmet Needs: Roughly 5 million people with mental health needs reported they were not getting adequate care.
- Workplace Burnout: 39% of Canadian employees report feeling burnt out, up from 35% in 2023.
- Youth Impact: 1 in 5 youth (under 25) experience mental illness. Young women (15-24) are the most likely to have mood/anxiety disorders.
- Suicide Rates: The suicide rate among men is three times higher than among women. For First Nations youth, it is 6 times higher than the non-Indigenous population.
- Cost of Care: Almost 6 in 10 Canadians aged 18 to 24 reported they cannot afford the care they need.
For these reason, along with many other, I'm completing 2,000 push-ups in 23 days to raise awareness and funds for the Canadian Mental Health Association.
