About My Challenge

I will be participating in the 2000 push-up challenge Feb 5-27, representing the 2000 lives lost to suicide EACH DAY!

This hits home as a person who has struggled with mental illness and addiction. Near the end of my alcohol abuse I regularly had thoughts and feelings of not wanting to exist.  Fortunately my illness never took to a place of wanting to die by suicide. But I was often reckless with no regard for my safety and often those around me.

I am fortunate to have gotten help and put in a lot work, getting sober and healthier mentally.  I still have struggles but I continue seek therapy regularly and do the work stay on top of my mental health.

Mental illness in men has long been overlooked and even seen as weakness.  I am hoping that this challenge and sharing my experience can help normalize mental illness, particularly for men.
